Khao Sok,
Thailand
The Forest
Older than
the Amazon.
Khao Sok National Park is one of the world's oldest rainforests โ over 160 million years old, older than the Amazon basin, older than most of human civilisation.
It covers 739 kmยฒ of pristine jungle in Surat Thani Province, southern Thailand. Limestone karst peaks erupt from an emerald canopy. The Cheow Lan lake โ formed by a dam in the 1980s โ sits at its heart, impossibly still and impossibly green.
This is where Vara is being built. Not at the edge of the park. Inside the buffer forest that surrounds it, where the same trees, the same animals, and the same silence exist โ without the restrictions of the national park boundary.
